Some of the comments on discord speak of cloning an already synced card to get up and running again quickly, but none mention anything about how to do so. But I haven't been there when it's flatlined, so I don't know if it falls behind. The few times I've visited my hotspot recently, it's been 100% synced. After all, it is the system disk, so it needs to be fast and robust. But I wonder if the SD card holds the device back a bit. Perhaps they just have better setups, as I will later today. Hotspots around me seem to witness a lot more frequently. It happens a lot to me, and despite having line of sight for miles, I witness only every hour or three. I’m staying at a different location from the hotspot, so I'm not able to connect every time it flatlines for a few hours.Ī lot of folks here say that flatlining for a few hours here and there is normal. It’s always 100% when I connect with it over bluetooth. Which is why I'm asking here before blindly venturing forward and screwing something up.Īt least I think the SD card is working. But I'm not very computer savvy other than knowing that cloning exact bootable copies of anything can be difficult. To me it seems that if I can make an exact copy of the card in the miner, the miner should function just as if the card had never been replaced, albeit perhaps with better performance and reliability. Since my SD card is working, can I just format the new card in exFAT, clone the old card to the new card with BalenaEtcher, pop the new card in the miner and call it a day? Or is it better to flash the firmware only and start a new card from scratch? Or is there more to it? There’s lots of posts about cloning cards, but they’re all scattered and I don’t know how to collect them into threads I can follow. I must be getting old, because the format of the discord is so crazy that I can’t wrap my head around it. I’ve had a difficult time finding much info as most of it, including the info on the helium site, seems geared towards replacing a damaged card, which requires downloading firmware to the new card. If simply coning it will work, I think a better card might improve performance and will be less likely to cause trouble in the future. However, there are enough people who have reported increased performance with better cards and the stock cards I've seen pics of are only 32 gb A1, so they have less headroom and are more susceptible to failure from rewrites. I’m a little worried about doing so because so many people have reported issues making clones that work, and fixing something that isn't broken is usually not advisable.

When I turn off my miner (RAK Goldspot) to install my new antenna, I’m considering replacing its stock SD card with a better one (Samsung Pro Plus 128gb A2).
